Our emphasis upon ministry to people groups, rather than within geographic and political boundaries organizes our thoughts to identify the people. We are in Phase II of our strategy identified as Mission Black Sea, in which we want to see 100 churches planted among the peoples of the seven countries surrounding the Black Sea. We are now active in two of the seven countries, with plans to expand to the other countries as opportunities and resources direct our timing.
Moldovans
Crossover’s church planting work in Eurasia began in 1995 with an initial plan called Mission Moldova. The plan was designed to facilitate the birth and growth of five new churches by the year 2000 in the small nation of Moldova. This phase-one objective was reached a year ahead of schedule with six, rather than five, new churches started. Over 20 churches are now begun.
Brazilians
Crossover began a sister missions agency, CCI-Brazil, in Curitiba, Brazil in 1996. Brazil is the sixth-largest missionary-sending country in the world. With over 25 million members, the Brazilian Evangelical Church is the third largest in the world. As a Crossover sending base, CCI-Brazil is governed by an independent board and is responsible to recruit, support and sustain its own missionaries to other fields. CCI-Brazil maintains a very active ministry of mission conferences and seminars, production of mission materials, and short-term mission trips to maximize its influence for missionary support, recruitment, and training. Following training in evangelism and church planting, Brazilian missionaries are sent to plant churches among the peoples of the Black Sea countries.
